I dreamed of a long, wide swimming pool. I asked my mom to record me swimming from one end to the other with her phone, but she kept forgetting to press the record button, forcing me to swim back and forth again and again. Yet I didn’t feel tired at all. The pool was inside a blue cathedral, its walls shimmering with rippling light.
In that world, I was a weightless half-human—not a fairy, not a mermaid.
